THE OCHTERTYRE SONG WEEKEND

‘Bridging tradition’


a series of weekends of Scots, Gaelic and Irish song masterclasses with Saturday evening ceilidhs showcasing all participants.

Optional, Sunday ‘let’s sing them over’ sessions, 2 —4 pm

To be held the weekends of:
Dec. 5-6, 2009:         Cathal McConnell & Margaret Bennett
Jan. 9-10, 2010:        Anne Neilson & Margaret Callan (to be re-scheduled)
Feb. 6—7, 2010:        Chris Miles & Margaret Bennett
Mar 20-21, 2010:       Tom Speirs & Gillebride MacMillan
Apr 24—25, 2010:      Elizabeth Stewart & Margaret Stewart
T.B.C.           The BIG SING!    Saturday, with Gordeanna McCulloch &

Margaret Bennett will lead ‘The BIG SING! Participants from previous workshops will rehearse and perform a community concert in the White Church, Comrie, Perthshire.

Cost: £5.00 for under-25s; or £15.00, all-inclusive (tuition, lunch, teas + ceilidh)
Sundays: optional SING-AROUND: ‘let’s sing them over’ (in Ochtertyre or Crieff),

Under-25s, concessions
There will be a concessionary weekend rate of £5 for all young people under 25; this
will include all tuition, lunch, teas and the ceilidh. 

Placements
Each weekend offers ‘placement’ opportunities for TWO ‘under 25s’. As the aim is to offer training in running such workshops, participants will be assigned tasks such as registration, helping with hall arrangements, etc. The placement covers reasonable travel costs, registration fee, accommodation and subsistence for  placement holders.
